“Unofficial Game Mascots- Part II”

On part one of “Unofficial Game Mascots”, there was talk about how some game characters becoming mascots for gaming systems without the certification from the system makers themselves. Some of these gaming characters are Abe, Lara Croft, Master Chief, Fenix, and even Kratos.  Those are just a select few that has grazed TV screens over the past years. There are plenty more than those as well. Over the years, companies like Sony, Microsoft, and even Nintendo have searched to have a marketable face and image. The two biggest faces/images for games in the past were Mario and Sonic. (more…)

Abe, Lara Croft, Spyro, Crash, Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, and Kratos. What does all of these names have in common? They are belong mainly to one system (some of which showed up on other systems down the road). When people hear the name of Lara Croft and the gaming system, they think of Playstation. Bring up Spyro, and gamers think of the dragon on the Playstation. Some game characters come and go and leave no real lasting impression. There are a select few, however, that is not only tied to a series of games, but a gaming system as well. Here is a list of some of the biggest “unofficial” gaming mascots seen through the years.

So, tis the season, or it was anyways. Now that the “New Year’s” partying is over and done with, it’s time to get back to the grind of the work week and getting back to what is “normal”. But these last few months wasn’t just the “Holiday Season”, but it was also the “Gaming Season” as well.

I’m taking it back old school a bit and talking about Shadow Man. I don’t know how many people out there played this game when it first came out for the N64 and DreamCast. Now, I only played it for the N64, and I had to give it few years rest inbetween playings in order to beat it. Not that it was a bad game, it was just a bit…what’s the word I’m looking for, “confusing”?

This week, I will be talking about BackBone/Sega’s Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection

Now, this game is a great game for anyone that had a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis back in the day. I had one and I loved it. I can remember countless hours playing the great games on there…ABACABB (Who gets what that code goes too?) Now, this collection has 40 titles in it, but not all of them are as great as some might “remember” them to be. I won’t go in full detail about each title here but I will list them here.

So, if you haven’t heard yet, Nintendo is taking $80 off the 3DS. So, it’s about $170 now. Am I the only one that thinks that’s still too much for a handheld system? Or am I just the only one that is on a tight budget during this hard times? Anyways, let’s move on, shall we?

So, it’s 2012, a new year. Well, it’s also a new year for Game (/)n too! And what better way to start off the new year then to have a new podcast! On this edition of Game (/)n, Rock Roberts talks about these last few months in gaming, his thoughts on if Apple should go into the gaming market, his thoughts on the 3DS and PS Vita, and what he hopes for in 2012 when it comes to gaming.

Game 0n: Ep- 2 (01/03/12)

Yes, it happens to the best of us. You work so hard on a game for so long, and one day, while your out, you little brother, or sister as my case was, goes into your room and deletes your files. Man, that sucks!  Trust me, I know the feeling, I really do!

Now as I am doing this review, word has leaked and been announced that THQ will no longer being doing SvR any more. I know, sad times. But not all hope is lost my friends. THQ will still be working on a WWE game, it’s just called WWE ’12… Pretty much, the whole SvR franchise is dead, meaning, the whole Smackdown! franchise is dead (Both THQ and WWE say that all old SD! games like Smackdown!, Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role, Smackdown!: Just Bring It, Smackdown!: Shut Your Mouth, and Smackdown!: Hear Comes The Pain are all apart of the Smackdown Vs. Raw franchise, calling it the “Smackdown! Franchise). We’ll touch on that later…

So, I was thinking about wanting to buy another game, and the game that I really wanted, I couldn’t think of a game that was like it. I want to play a game that I can play either good or bad and reap the benifits of each. I know you hae games like Fable and KotoR and even ME and Dragon Age. But I want a game that the story changes when you change!
